Senior Walk
Graduating high school seniors who attended East Clayton were invited to return to their elementary alma mater for a senior walk. The students dress in their graduation attire and reunite with their former teachers and classmates. They then take their “senior walk” through the hallways while the current students of East Clayton cheer them on.
This event gave the seniors an opportunity to serve as role models for our current elementary scholars.

Barbershop Talk
Local barbers teamed up with East Clayton Elementary to host a Barbershop chat with some of our young scholars. Students were given free haircuts and had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Davis and Mr. Darian about growing up to be strong, responsible young men.
Our young, male scholars were able to commune with strong male role models. They spoke on a variety of subjects that will help shape their character.

2nd Grade Community Service Project
Ms. Cook's second grade class got into the holiday spirit by putting together warm and thoughtful care packages to brighten the days of residents in our local nursing home. Staff and stakeholders donated items including cozy socks, toiletries, cheerful handwritten notes, and drawings that the students organized into care packages.
It was quite a joy to see the students cheerfully and dutifully tackle the task of sorting and assembling the care packages. This was an amazing experience for these students that they will take with them as they mature into our future leaders.

Leadership for Change Project
Mrs. Waye’s score students participated in the “Leadership for Change Project.” They were prompted to create a proposal on an impactful lesson for their peers. They choose to create a lesson on how students can decode the news, discern the difference between real news and false news, and explain what it takes to be a journalist dedicated to providing honest and insightful information.
